Probably not as lucky as the 60 year old Fort Lauderdale woman who was playing a $1 slot machine when she hit a $3.8 million jackpot at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood early Thursday morning. Laurie, the woman who won declined to give her last name was in absolute shock after winning the lottery. The $3,854,682 jackpot on the IGT Megabucks slots game was the highest payout in history for Seminole Gaming’s six properties, the newspaper reported. It also was the largest slot jackpot ever awarded in Florida on an International Game Technology game.

Laurie said in a statement released by the casino, “I am in absolute shock. You like to dream big but that’s really big. That’s not even in the ballpark of what you think you can win. That’s a lottery! It still feels like a dream.” The 60 year old who was just spending the evening at the Guitar Hotel and had dinner at Council Oaks Steaks & Seafood, went home with a gigantic sum of money which she probably couldn’t even dream of. When asked about what she plans to do with her winnings, the $3.8 million winner said she would spend some of her winnings on hurricane windows, buying a new condominium or resurfacing her pool.

Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood reopened on June 12 since the coronavirus pandemic, under the company’s new and stringent ‘Safe and Sound’ program guidelines which includes multiple initiatives designed to create a quality entertainment experience in an environment that helps to keep guests and team members safe.

Guidelines include required masks for guests and team members inside any facility except while in the pool, eating, drinking or smoking in designated areas. To maintain physical distancing, only registered hotel guests are permitted access to the pool. Chairs on the pool deck are spaced to encourage social distancing and guests who violate safety protocols may be asked to leave by management.

Since the reopening the casinos has awarded more than $74.8 million in winnings. There have been 29 jackpots valued at $50,000 or more.
