2022 WSOP: Sergi Reixach Leads Event #8 At The End Of Day 1

The eighth event in the 2022 World Series Of Poker (WSOP) was the $25,000 High Roller No-Limit Hold’em (NLH) tournament. The High Roller event drew 229 entries, and the prize pool stood at $5,410,125. Sergi Reixach is the chip leader after eight levels of play concluded at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas. He is leading the pack of 87 survivors who found a bag to progress onto Day 2.

Reixach with 1,418,000 at his disposal will be battling his rival for the top prize. His best WSOP finish was in the 2021 $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em event when he took the fourth spot. Reixach is fourth on Spain’s all-time money list. His best live cash is $2,024,535 which he pocketed in 2019 when he shipped the € 100,000 No-Limit Hold’em – Super High Roller (Event #15) in the European Poker Tour (EPT) in Barcelona.

Coming back to the $25,000 High Roller NLH event, David Miscikowski has the second highest chip stack (1,062,000 chips). Justin Young follows in the third position with 1,018,000 chips. These three are the only players who have a stack of 1,000,000+ chips.

In the previously hosted $100,000 High Roller, Young had the lead in chips but fell short of making it in the money. He is definitely looking at grabbing a cash prize in the current $25,000 High Roller NLH tournament. It would be interesting to see if he snatches the chip lead away from Reixach.

Take a look at the top 10 chip counts:

Rank Player Chips
1 Sergi Reixach 1,418,000
2 Justin Young 1,018,000
3 Sam Grafton 884,000
4 Martin Stausholm 884,000
5 Cary Katz 727,000
6 Ariel Mantel 616,000
7 Michael Wang 540,000
8 Blake Bohn 527,000
9 Ali Imsirovic 516,000
10 Josh Arieh 510,000

Some of the well-known players competing for the High Roller title include names like Cary Katz, David Peters, Josh Arieh, Jason Koon, Stephen Chickwick, 2021 WSOP 2021 Main Event winner Koray Aldemir among others.

Some of the players who failed to find a bag into Day 2 were Maria Ho, six-time WSOP bracelet winner, Daniel Negreanu, defending champion Tyler Cornell, Byron Kavernamn among others. The game will resume today at 1 PM (1.30 AM IST) at Level 9 with blinds 5,000/10,000 and 10,000 ante. Each level at Day 2 will last for 60 minutes and 10 such levels will be played. The finale, which is Day 3, is scheduled for Monday.
