2019 APT Tokyo Japan Day 1 in the books

One of the leading poker brands in the Asian region, Asian Poker Tour (APT), started the new year on a successful note by conducting the APT Vietnam Kickoff Series. Plenty of Indians were in participation and the Main Event itself was won by India’s top talent Abhinav Iyer for INR 69 Lakhs!

After the APT Vietnam, its time for another APT extravagant festival, the 2019 APT Tokyo Japan. The series is its second stop for the year and is scheduled between 1-11 February 2019 at Casino Stadium, Tokyo. The series already saw Event #1 Kickoff beginning.

The first event saw a total of 49 entries. The field witnessed popular Japanese musician and celebrity Takumi Samejima the mix too. He was 2017 APT Philippines Main Event champion and has decided to play the first ever APT in his home country. The Kickoff event saw him bag the 4th largest chip stack among 12 remaining players.

The chip leader to emerge on Day 1 Kickoff is Japan’s Kei Kitazawa (pictured below) with 122,100 chips. The tournament will resume today, i.e. 2nd February, at 12 pm local time. The winner of this event will also claim the first ever APT Japan Trophy.

Along with Day 2 of the Event #1 Kickoff, the gem of the series, the JPY 30k Main Event will also see its first starting flight (Day 1A) being hosted on Saturday. The tournament has a structure in which blinds will increase every 40 minutes, as opposed to the Kickoff’s 30 minutes. The registration for flight will close at Level 10 and players will play till Level 19 or till the field is whittled down to 25% of the turnout.

Since the Japanese government does not allow contests with cash money prizes to take place within its borders, all prizes in APT Tokyo Japan are in the form of tickets to the APT Philippines I, scheduled to take place in April-May this year. Top 4 finishers in the ME will get tickets to this series, with the winner getting the ME ticket, HR ticket and the Championships Event ticket as well as free airfare and accommodation.
