The Asia-Pacific Poker Tour has an ongoing stop in Manila at the moment and the all-important APPT Main Event kicked off a couple of days back, with a couple of days of starting flights being hosted. Yesterday, we reported the news of 12 Indians making it through to Day 2 from Day 1a.
Now we’re back with a roundup of Day 1b, where a total of 760 entries registered to the tournament and a total overall field of 1,364 entries was created, making it the biggest international field in the history of the Philippines. The prize pool was not doubled but more than tripled, with the PHP 20 million GTD being crushed and a new prize pool of PHP 65,492,460 million (~$1.2 million) generated.
A total of 11 Indians progressed from Day 1b of the Main Event, making it 23 Indians who will play at Day 2. All the players who hit the tables today will be battling it out for the top prize of PHP 12,970,000 (~INR 1.68 crore), with the top 162 players being paid out a minimum cash of PHP 118,000.
It was well-known UK player James Mitchell who came out on top of Day 1b with a staggering lead over the rest, having 284,000 in chips. Among the Indians, Sahil Agarwal holds the largest stack of 197,100 chips. All Indians to progress from Day 1b with their chip counts:
